期权被表示为 EIP-4 代币，使其可在任何 Ergo 市场上交易。订单簿模型允许期权卖家设置自己的溢价和行权价，而买家可以选择符合其市场观点的合约。智能合约在到期时或提前行权时（对于美式期权）自动处理期权行权。
SigmaO 展示了如何在 eUTXO 模型上实现复杂的金融衍生品。每个期权合约直接在代币中编码其参数（基础资产、行权价、到期日、期权类型），创建自描述的金融工具。这将机构级交易工具带入了去中心化生态系统。
